Ifelodun LCDA Residents Applaud Mayor Okeowo’s Impactful Projects Amid Economic Challenges

In a heartening display of civic appreciation, residents of Ifelodun Local Council Development Area (LCDA) gathered yesterday to commend Council Chairman, Mayor Olufemi Akanbi Okeowo, for his steadfast commitment to community development. Despite the current economic hardships gripping the nation, Ifelodun LCDA is witnessing a remarkable transformation that speaks volumes about the Chairman’s dedication to enhancing the quality of life for all residents.

The day was marked by a flurry of activity as Mayor Okeowo oversaw the commencement and completion of various projects. In a significant step towards improving local infrastructure, he laid the foundation for an Executive Building within the Council Secretariat and a Primary Health Centre at Seteolu Community, Round About. These new structures promise to bolster administrative efficiency and healthcare services in the area.

Road construction also took centre stage, with the Mayor flagging off works on six streets: Ladega, Fijabi link Iyatuwo, Ofure, Ogungbe, Olokodana, and Igbaja. This extensive road network improvement is set to ease transportation woes and enhance connectivity within the LCDA.

Access to clean water, a fundamental necessity, received a substantial boost with the commissioning of 14 water systems. Residents in areas such as Okoya Street, Jimoh Ojora Primary school, Oyedeji, Abeje, Mosafejo close, and Apasa Mosefejo road, among others, will now enjoy improved water supply. This initiative extends to Akindele street, Aro Lane, Igbaja, Ofure, Ifelodun street, Yusuf Esan, Owodunni street, and Coker street, ensuring widespread access to this vital resource.

In a move to enhance mobility and support various community sectors, Mayor Okeowo presented utility vehicles to key groups. The Council Staff received three Hummer Buses to facilitate their work, while the Nigerian Army Signal Barrack, NIREC (Nigerian Inter-Religious Council), CDC (Community Development Committee), Market Association, and Chieftaincy Council were also beneficiaries of this thoughtful gesture.

Hon. Tunde Omojuwa, a long-time resident of Ogungbe Street and respected party leader, expressed the community’s gratitude: “These projects are a testament to the Chairman’s leadership and vision for our community. While many areas face budget cuts and declining public services, Ifelodun is thriving under his stewardship. We are grateful that he prioritises our needs and works tirelessly to ensure that we continue to see progress.”

Addressing the community, Mayor Okeowo reaffirmed his commitment: “I am honoured to serve the people of Ifelodun LCDA. These projects will be completed within six months to the glory of God. We are committed to finding innovative solutions to address the needs of our community, especially during these challenging times. Together, we will build a brighter future for all.”

The Chairman’s proactive approach to governance in the face of adversity has struck a chord with residents, fostering a sense of hope and optimism about their community’s trajectory. As Ifelodun LCDA continues to develop and thrive under Mayor Okeowo’s leadership, it stands as a shining example of what can be achieved through dedicated and innovative local governance, even in the most challenging of times.
