Senator Tokunbo Abiru Marks Birthday With a Legacy of Transformative Service

Distinguished Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, FCA, representing Lagos East Senatorial District, marks another birthday celebrated widely by constituents who have experienced the tangible impact of his people-centred leadership.

A former Managing Director of Polaris Bank, Senator Abiru carried the discipline of a distinguished banking career into legislative service, chairing the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and Other Financial Institutions with notable authority.

His legislative contributions — spanning copyright reform, franchise regulation, and critical amendments to the CBN and NDIC Acts — have meaningfully strengthened Nigeria’s economic architecture.Beyond the chamber, his humanitarian footprint is equally compelling. Over 80,000 households have benefited from his food distribution programme, whilst more than 2,500 vulnerable constituents received monthly financial support during the COVID-19 pandemic. A ₦300 million revolving loan scheme has further stimulated grassroots enterprise across the district.

Fondly called the “DoingGood Senator,” his birthday is, fittingly, a celebration belonging as much to his constituents as to himself.
