Delta Police Rescue Three Kidnap Victims in Issele-Uku Forest Raid

The Delta State Police Command has recorded a significant operational success after officers dismantled a kidnap syndicate in a forest located in the Issele-Uku area of the state, rescuing three victims and recovering an AK-47 rifle in the process. According to the Command’s spokesperson, the operation was launched following credible intelligence about the syndicate’s hideout, with officers engaging the suspects in a fierce gun battle before overpowering them and securing the hostages, who were found in good health. The rescued victims, whose identities have not been disclosed, are being provided with medical support and counselling. The arrested suspects are currently in custody and are being processed for prosecution. The operation is part of a broader intensification of anti-kidnapping efforts across South-South Nigeria, where criminal networks have increasingly targeted residents of rural communities and travellers on inter-state roads. Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has commended the Police Command for its swift response and encouraged citizens to continue sharing intelligence with security agencies. The Inspector-General of Police has separately announced that all commands across the federation are to deploy additional anti-crime units to major highways and forest zones ahead of the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations, to prevent criminals from exploiting the holiday period. Residents of Issele-Uku and its environs have been advised to remain vigilant.
